I started tattooing in 1994. As I couldn't get any apprenticeship, because that was a time when secrecy prevailed, I had to learn the basics of the job by myself. I opened Artribal Tatouages in autumn 1994. I then spent several years working on all the different tattoo schools to get the broadest bases. From tribal to realism, from biomechanical to Japanese style, from Celtic to US traditional I wanted to master all of those. I've always made personalized and unique designs. Then I focused on a style inspired by Japanese tattoos and on bigger pieces of work. Today I work on big scale tattoos, sometimes smaller ones, but always in harmony with the body, its shapes and movements. Contrast is what gives a tattoo its impact. To me, a good tattoo must have a neat and tight outline, strong shades and solid colours. I like to do big tattoos because they are catchy from a distance and because we can work with details we can see when we are closer. It's important to have those two readings because a tattoo you can't read is a shitty tattoo ! That why I appreciate to tattoo designs that follow those rules; as Japanese, traditional American and ethnic tattoos in general do. In two words: simple and efficient ! I would like to take the most of those lines to thanks all the ones who trusted me through all these years, all the ones who travel from far away to Artribal and all the tattoo artists I've been lucky to tattoo You guys are the best gratitude a tattooist could dream of. Now I would like to say my gratitude to all of those who anyway helped me when I needed it; Joss (rip), Le Tatou, Manu Badet, Tin-Tin, Filip Leu, Steve Lemak, my padawans : Topsi Turby, Navette, et G.Rôm, Artribal Dream Team then and now, Babeth, my mother, and above all , the ones that make my heart beating, the ones who always supported me: my wife and my daughter: Alex and Margot. • The Thin Needle •
Fasciné par le tatouage depuis l'adolescence, j'ai fait mes études en Arts plastiques à la faculté d'Aix en Provence, travaillé dans la peinture, l'illustration et l'infographie.Puis j'ai eu la chance de rencontrer Paul Motta, qui m'a appris les techniques de tatouage et surtout une éthique de travail. Après quelques années passées à travailler avec lui dans le sud de la France, je suis arrivé a Lyon où j'ai été accueilli avec une immense joie chez Artribal. Passionné par la BD, le Japon et la peinture en général, j'aime proposer à mes clients des pièces uniques et personnalisées. J'apprécie de travailler dans divers styles allant du réalisme noir et gris au japonais moderne en passant par le New School. Passer des heures sur ma planche a dessin, jouer avec le placement, les courbes du corps, progresser encore et toujours , découvrir de nouvelles vies, d'autres civilisations, et au mépris du danger avancer vers l'inconnu... hein? Comme le disait un grand maître: "Le côté obscur de la Force, redouter tu dois." Yoda et “Encre noire mettre tu dois” Bugo Je voudrait remercier Mathias et la dream team d'artribal pour leur acceuil. Embrasser ma fille qui est mon énergie, mon épouse qui m'a mis des coups de pieds au cul au bon moment et qui m'a soutenu, ma mère qui croyait en moi... et mes potes qui m'ont fait confiance (les inconscients) et qui m'ont prêtés leur peau .
